Anime Detour 2012 Showcase

Look for my con report coming soon! It will be posted on Pop Droid! This year was busy for me, I did 3 cosplays at a single convention for once.

Friday I did Lady Gaga from the YoĆ¼ and I music video

This costume was pretty straight forward to make. I already had all the clothes, wig and shoes (for Taokaka), so all I had to do was paint some sunglasses, and make the armor. I made all the armor out of craft foam, and spent a decent amount of time painting it. It was a good mix of difficult and fun

Friday night and Saturday morning I changed into Taokaka. This costume was such a challenge to wear, my face got so hot, and my nose seemed to always be itchy :/
At least I looked pretty bad-ass!

This costume had easy parts and difficult parts to make. I used double sided iron on tacky stuff to make the paws, and they were like big awesome pillows on my hands. I really hate how the tummy of the costume pokes out and makes me look chubby XD
Other than that, I love this one and I can't wait to wear it more! The only think I'll change is cleaning up the hood, re-braiding the wig (it got stuck on everything :| ) and definitely re-doing the mask.

And Saturday evening I was Princess Hinoto from X/1999
This is definitely the cosplay I am most proud of so far... So much work went into this (and so much money...) and it turned out just superb!

This costume started out with something like 10 yards of blue fabric. I made a blue kimono top, and then added something like 600" of ruffle to the bottom of an extremely wide skirt made out of cheap muslin. The white/purple kimono is called a dickey and made out of a tiny amount of fabric (kind of like a vest), and then the top skirt/ kimono. The obi is 4 layers of cotton (I'm thinking of adding more strength to it, possibly denim), and the details on my face are vinyl. The wig is 60" long, and the hair pieces are made out of craft foam.

Pro face shot :D
